#1301 Suki Finn - What's in a Doughnut Hole?: And Other Philosophical Food for Thought
RECORDED ON JUNE 3rd 2026.
Dr. Suki Finn is a Lecturer in Philosophy and Gender Studies at Royal Holloway University of London. Her research spans the areas of metametaphysics, the metaphysics of pregnancy, the epistemology of logic, and feminist and queer theory. She is the author of What’s in a Doughnut Hole?: And Other Philosophical Food for Thought.
In this episode, we focus on What’s in a Doughnut Hole? We explore questions like “what is a hole?”; “what is it for something to exist?”; and “what is nothing?”. We also discuss whether taste is merely subjective, and whether moral values are objective. We talk about whether is it possible for us to know anything at all. We discuss whether there is a distinction between a potato and a chip, and broader questions surrounding changes in composition and identity. Finally, we address the most important philosophical question of all: “Should pineapple go on pizza?”
